APFORGIS (2017-2019) was a regional initiative supporting the conservation and restoration of socio-economically important, native Asian tree species by addressing knowledge gaps regarding their distribution and threats to them. Through the initiative, up-to-date, expert-validated distribution maps were developed for 63 tropical and subtropical tree species selected by regional experts. Over 60 experts contributed to the project, by providing species occurrence data from project and institutional archives and validating the resulting distribution maps. The distribution and threat maps are available at www.tree-diversity.org. APFORGIS was implemented by Bioversity International in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Forest Genetic Resources Programme, a regional programme of 15 countries to support the conservation and sustainable use of forest genetic diversity (APFORGEN, www.apforgen.org).

収集方法

Accurate tree species occurrence points were compiled from several sources, mainly APFORGEN members and other individual researchers from the target countries, but also from scientific articles and Bioversity International's Collecting Mission Database (http://bioversity.github.io/geosite/).

Study Extent The study covered 24 countries in tropical and subtropical Asia that together form the Indo-Malayan floristic realm.
Quality Control We standardized the data with the occurrence data collation template developed in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Crop Wild Relatives project (http://www.cropwildrelatives.org/sadc-cwr-project/) and implemented a three-step cleaning process to ensure high data quality.
